BJJ — Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and self-defense system based on the principle that a smaller and lighter person can successfully defend against a larger and stronger opponent by using technique, leverage, and proper body positioning.

The main idea of BJJ is to take the fight to the ground, control the opponent, and make them submit using joint locks or chokeholds.

Regular BJJ training develops strength, flexibility, coordination, focus, and self-confidence. It’s not just a sport but also a philosophy that teaches patience, discipline, and respect for your partner.

Judo Club Challenge is a martial arts club in the city of Vaughan that has opened a BJJ section and offers professional training for both beginners and experienced practitioners.

Coach - Chad Davis

Chad is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Tony Isaacs and Michael Bryers, with 10 years of training experience. He began his journey in jiu jitsu for personal self-defense, but quickly developed a deep appreciation for the art and science of grappling.

For the past two years, he has been teaching at Grappling Arts Academy, where he has honed his ability to share both the fundamentals and advanced techniques of submission grappling. His teaching style blends structured drilling with live situational games, helping students build strong foundations while exploring more complex skills.

While he has competed, Chad primary focus has always been the love of the art itself, both as practitioner, and a coach. Dedicated to teaching both gi and no-gi, he brings enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine passion for helping others grow on the mats.
